The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has presented the role of WIPO Ambassador for Fashion and Design to Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, recognizing Her Royal Highness’s outstanding contributions to creativity, innovation, and the strategic use of intellectual property.
On 28 May 2026, Her Royal Highness visited the WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and graciously granted an audience to Mr. Daren Tang, WIPO Director General, who formally conferred upon Her Royal Highness the title of WIPO Ambassador for Fashion and Design, making the Princess the first person in the world to hold this historic position.
The role of WIPO Ambassador for Fashion and Design recognizes the vision and outstanding contributions of Her Royal Highness Sirivannavari to the development, enhancement, and value creation of textiles and fashion design rooted in local wisdom and cultural heritage, as well as acknowledging Her Royal Highness as a role model of success, whose experience and best practices can serve as a valuable reference for WIPO and its member states in fostering exchanges of knowledge and promoting innovation in the creative industries.
The WIPO Director General noted that the Princess has worked directly with artisans and craftspeople across Thailand, helping communities take their traditional heritage and develop it into products that compete in contemporary markets. Her Royal Highness had gained 541 intellectual property assets and holds registered trademarks in 34 countries for her range of branded jewelry, leather goods, and home décor.
This Ambassadorship demonstrates that fashion, can serve as a bridge between cultures and contribute to innovation and economic development.
