Government Strengthens Public Communication, Counters Misinformation Following Chon Buri Case

Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Supamas Isarabhakdi has instructed the Government Public Relations Department and MCOT Public Company Limited to strengthen public communication following the recent criminal case in Chon Buri, ensuring that accurate and timely information reaches both domestic and international audiences.

The government confirmed that the suspect was arrested within days and that legal proceedings are moving forward. It stressed that the incident was the act of an individual criminal and should not be seen as a reflection of Thailand's overall public safety. The government reaffirmed its firm stance against sentence reductions for those convicted of serious violent crimes and is reviewing measures to prevent repeat offences by former inmates.

State media have also been instructed to report developments responsibly, avoiding graphic content and respecting the dignity of the victims and their families. In addition, the Sure And Share Center of the Thai News Agency has been tasked with verifying and countering false or misleading information circulating online.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, public safety, and the rule of law, while ensuring that accurate information reaches the public and international community.
