Culture Minister Welcomes Khanom Krok Recognition as 2026 Top Thai Dessert by TasteAtlas

Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised expressed pride after "Khanom Krok" (Thai coconut pancakes) was named the No. 1 Best Thai Dessert of 2026 by the global food platform TasteAtlas.

The ranking, based on consumer and food critic reviews worldwide, highlights the global appeal of Thai culinary heritage. The Minister noted that Thai desserts transcend borders, with Khanom Krok’s blend of creamy coconut milk, its "crispy on the outside, soft on the inside" texture, and its traditional preparation reflecting Thai ancestral wisdom.

Other popular Thai sweets also made the list, including Mango Sticky Rice, Khanom Chan, Lod Chong, Ruam Mit, Grass Jelly, Fried Bananas, and Patongko. The Minister emphasized that these results highlight the strong potential of Thai cuisine as a key Soft Power asset for the nation.

To build on this achievement, the Ministry of Culture has developed a strategy to promote Thailand's "Food Soft Power" globally. This includes supporting community entrepreneurs through branding and creative value addition, and integrating Thai desserts into international festivals to reach global consumers.

The Ministry also plans to expand networks of "Thai Culinary Cultural Ambassadors" to share knowledge internationally and produce multilingual digital content about Thai sweets. In addition, the Ministry will prioritize passing traditional knowledge to younger generations to keep this cultural heritage relevant and sustainable.

The Minister stated that this success belongs to all Thais, especially the communities and artisans who preserve these culinary traditions. She reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to transforming cultural capital into spiritual value and sustainable economic growth for the country.
