The Amazing Thailand x LISA campaign has generated a strong and measurable LISA Effect, as both Thai and international tourists have travelled in the footsteps global superstar Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal (ลลิษา ลิซ่า มโนบาล) to the Red Lotus lake at Nong Han Lake(บึงหนองหาน) in Kumphawapi District(อำ อำ เภอกุมภวาปี), Udon Thani Province (จังหวัดอุดรธานี). The growing travel trend has elevated the community-based natural attraction to international visibility, while creating tangible income opportunities for local businesses and service providers.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) projects that during the 2026 Red Lotus Sea tourism season, running from November 2025 to February 2026, visitor numbers will reach at least 120,000, reflecting sustained interest from both domestic and overseas markets.
According to TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool (นางสาวฐาปนีย์ เกียรติไพบูลย์), the influx of visitors demonstrates the success of engaging a world-class artist as an Amazing Thailand Ambassador to promote Thailand’s tourism image and inspire travel through cultural influence and storytelling. She noted that the campaign has effectively encouraged travelers to explore lesser-known natural destinations while strengthening Thailand’s global tourism profile.
Ms. Thapanee added that the impact extends beyond visitor numbers, contributing directly to the local economy as communities and entrepreneurs enhance tourism services to accommodate increased demand. In the most recent season, international tourists accounted for a significantly higher share of visitors, with boat tours for Red Lotus photography emerging as a key activity generating income for local residents.
Overall, the Amazing Thailand x LISA initiative showcases Thailand’s ability to leverage soft power, global cultural figures, and natural assets to promote high-quality tourism, expand international recognition of local destinations, and support sustainable economic growth at the community level.
