Announcement: The State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand will pay a State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, from 14 to 16 September 2026. This Visit will foster closer ties of friendship and strengthen relations between Thailand and Viet Nam as both celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the State Visit, Their Majesties the King and Queen will lay wreaths at the Bac Son Martyrs' Monument and the Mausoleum of former President Ho Chi Minh. Their Majesties will then attend the Official Welcoming Ceremony and meet with His Excellency the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and his spouse. Their Majesties will also grant audiences to His Excellency Mr. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and His Excellency Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. On the same day, His Excellency the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and his spouse will host a State Banquet in honour of Their Majesties at Tonkin Palace, after which they will proceed to Ngoc Son Temple to view cultural performances.

On the last day of the Visit, Their Majesties the King and Queen will visit the Quan Su Pagoda, which is the Headquarters of the Executive Council of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha, and the Thai Cultural Centre at Hanoi University.

The State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam marks the first State Visit in the history of relations between the two countries and will be the highlight of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Viet Nam. Reflecting the close friendship and mutual understanding that exist between the two countries, the Visit will provide an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations for the mutual benefit and enduring prosperity of the peoples of both countries.
