Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, (เอกนิติ นิติทัณฑ์ประภาศ) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, began his mission at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos by leading “Team Thailand” in high-level discussions with the World Bank and major global technology companies to strengthen investment, digital transformation and AI cooperation.
On the first day, Mr. Ekniti met with Mr. Ajay Banga, (อเจย์ปาล ซิงห์ บังกา) President of the World Bank, to exchange views on the global economic outlook and cooperation in supporting Thailand’s development, low-carbon transition, and quality job creation. They also discussed Thailand’s preparations to host the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in October 2026.
He also held talks with WEF executives, including Mr. Mirek Dusek and Mr. John Dutton, focusing on connecting innovation networks, supporting startups and next-generation entrepreneurs, and expanding cooperation in sustainability and ESG.
In parallel, Mr. Ekniti met senior executives from leading technology firms—AWS, Microsoft, TikTok and HCL Technologies—to accelerate digital economy development. Discussions covered large-scale data centre investments, cloud and AI adoption, digital skills development, cooperation with Thai universities, SME digitalisation, and workforce upskilling to meet future industry needs.
The government said Thailand’s participation in Davos 2026 aims to build strong global partnerships, attract concrete investment, and reaffirm Thailand’s position as a stable long-term business base and a key gateway to high-potential Asian markets.
