Gastech's 54th Edition Kicks Off in Bangkok, Thailand Sets Out Vision for Energy Security

Bangkok is taking center stage as host of Gastech 2026, the world's premier event for the natural gas, LNG, and energy industries, with the event expected to draw more than 50,000 attendees from 150 countries over its run, including ministers, policymakers, and leading global energy companies.

Thailand's Minister of Energy, Akanat Promphan, welcomed the gathering, saying energy security, economic competitiveness and sustainable growth are more interconnected than ever.

Speaking at the event, Christopher Hudson, CEO of DMG Events, the organizer of Gastech, welcomed participants to Bangkok as the industry navigates a pivotal moment: rising geopolitical tensions alongside surging energy demand driven by rapid urbanization, data center growth, and food security needs.

A key theme of this year's Gastech is the role of natural gas and LNG as baseload energy sources — ones that stabilize power grids alongside renewables while helping cut emissions during the energy transition. Global LNG demand is projected to grow by 50% by 2040, underscoring the urgency of the discussions taking place in Bangkok this week.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the gathering, positioning Thailand as a strategic hub for international dialogue, collaboration, and energy investment.

"Thailand is ready to be a trusted partner," the Prime Minister said. "Let us work together to build an energy future that is secure, affordable, cleaner, and able to support the growth of generations to come."

Gastech serves as a critical global platform for shaping energy policy, forging partnerships, and driving investment, reinforcing Thailand's growing role as a key energy hub in Asia.
