MHESI Strengthens AUN/SEED-Net Cooperation, Positioning Thailand as a Regional Hub for ASEAN–Japan Engineering Education

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing regional academic cooperation by supporting the AUN/SEED-Net cooperative framework, aimed at enhancing the ASEAN University Network as a platform for international brain circulation between ASEAN and Japan. The initiative highlights Thailand’s role as a strategic hub for higher education, research collaboration, and innovation development in the region.

Under the framework, MHESI continues to promote academic collaboration, research capacity building, and stronger linkages between universities and industry across ASEAN and Japan. These efforts are designed to foster the international mobility of highly skilled human resources and to support the creation of innovation ecosystems that contribute to sustainable economic development at the regional level.

AUN/SEED-Net has long served as a key mechanism for human resource development in engineering, supported by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The continued cooperation aligns with Thailand’s national strategy to develop high-competency human capital in science, technology, and innovation, reinforcing the country’s long-termcompetitiveness and its leadership role in the ASEAN higher education landscape.
