Minister Supamas Directs Enhanced Flood Warnings and Full-Cycle Aid for Affected Residents
26 September 2026 — Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Supamas Isarabhakdee said she had instructed agencies under her supervision, particularly the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) and provincial public relations offices, to closely monitor heavy rain and flooding. They are tasked with providing accurate, timely, and accessible information regarding risks, warnings and relief efforts.
The minister is also arranging visits to affected provinces, coordinating with governors and relevant agencies to assess current conditions and identify areas where assistance is most urgently needed.
Ms. Supamas stated that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had emphasized public safety, coordinated action, and timely warnings. She has therefore directed PRD to link information from central agencies, provinces, and local administrative organizations, enabling the public to prepare for and respond to flooding effectively.
The areas under her supervision comprise Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Prakan in Inspection Region 2, as well as Chanthaburi, Trat, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, and Sa Kaeo in Inspection Region 9. She said she would monitor both affected and at-risk areas, identify residents’ needs and operational constraints, and raise issues requiring policy support with the Prime Minister. Site visits will focus on warnings, assistance for vulnerable groups, and direct feedback from residents and officials, while avoiding disruption to ongoing relief work.
The PRD has been instructed to step up proactive crisis communication in coordination with the Thai Meteorological Department, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), the Royal Irrigation Department, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, provincial authorities, and local agencies. The approach covers three stages:
* Before flooding: Share clearly dated and timed information on rainfall, water levels and at-risk areas, along with official advice on preparation, evacuation routes, and shelters. Community channels should also reach older people, people with disabilities, bedridden patients, and those without convenient online access.
* During flooding: Keep information on affected locations, roads, alternative routes, assistance points, and local contacts up to date. Pass requests for help to the responsible agencies and follow up, with priority given to safety, evacuation, and access to food, drinking water, medicine and other essentials.
* After floodwaters recede: Provide guidance on checking homes before returning, hygiene, damage assessments, and the criteria, documents and procedures for government assistance.
In Pathum Thani, Ms. Supamas assigned her secretary, Dr. Patcharin Samsiripong, to visit the Rangsit area on 26 September. The team will assess conditions near Saphan Daeng at Khlong 1, gather feedback from residents of the Khlong 1 Shrine community, and inspect the semi-permanent floodgate at the mouth of Rangsit Canal alongside provincial and municipal officials. The visit aims to examine drainage into the Chao Phraya River and identify the support needed from central agencies.
“People must receive support before, during, and after flooding,” Ms. Supamas said. “They need to know the risks in time to prepare, where to seek help during an emergency, and how to access recovery and relief information once conditions improve.”
Residents are advised to follow announcements from provincial authorities and relevant agencies, as well as updates via NBT 2HD, NBT Connext, Radio Thailand and provincial public relations offices. Rainfall and water information are available on ThaiWater, and weather forecasts through the Thai Meteorological Department.
