OAE discusses with Canadian Agriculture Minister to promote trade, technology, and innovation cooperation

Mr. Peeraphan Korthong (พีรพันธ์ คอทอง), Secretary-General of the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), along with the Thai delegation led by Mr. Vinaroj Supsongsuk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, attended a bilateral discussion with Mr. Ron Kostyshyn, Minister of Agriculture for the Province of Manitoba, Canada, to exchange views on the bilateral relationship between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on enhancing partnership in trade, technology, and modern agricultural innovation.

As Manitoba is a vital production hub for Canada's agricultural raw materials with major exports including wheat, pork, canola oil, canola seeds, and soybeans. Farmers and tech leaders here utilize cutting-edge tools to enhance sustainable crop and livestock production. The province’s agricultural landscape is also driven by AI, robotics, and precision farming, which are technological advancements that can be highly beneficial in elevating the future developments of Thailand's agricultural sector.

Mr. Vinaroj stated that the Thai government prioritizes the sustainable development of local agriculture, which covers the application of modern agricultural technology and innovation. The Thai government aims to promote precision farming, achieve sustainable agriculture standards, enhance product yields, and improve organic and eco-friendly environment for Thai farmers. Meanwhile, the Canadian side has also expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Thailand, especially in the field of research and development in agricultural technology and innovation.
