Thai textile fashion, known for its refined craftsmanship, intricate tailoring, and distinctive handwoven patterns created by skilled Thai artisans, continues to be developed and elevated by various agencies nationwide. Most recently in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Mrs. Kesorn Kamneidphet(นางเกษร กำ กำ เหนิดเพ็ชร) Director of the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC), announced the launch of a workshop on contemporary Thai textile fashion design and brand management, held under the Project on the Development of Contemporary Art for Economic Promotion: Contemporary Fashion and Costume Design, for fiscal year 2026.
The workshop aims to enhance the capacity of Thai textile entrepreneurs in southern Thailand by building on cultural heritage and transforming it into contemporary fashion that meets current market demand. The programme also provides knowledge in brand management, online marketing, and digital commerce to strengthen competitiveness and support sustainable income generation.
A total of 14 selected entrepreneurs from southern provinces participated in the workshop, engaging in hands-on learning with nationally recognised experts, including Siriorn Tienkaprasit (คุณสิริอร เทียรฆประสิทธิ์), a fashion business and brand development specialist, and Hirankrit Phatboriboonkul(ุหิรัญกฤษฎ์ ภัทรบริบูรณ์กุล), a fashion stylist and apparel expert. Participants were guided through the process of developing prototype designs, creating fashion collections, and preparing their products for commercial distribution.
For 2026, OCAC places strong emphasis on digital presentation and communication through the concept “จริตไทไทย by OCAC,” which reinterprets Thai textile identity from a contemporary perspective aligned with modern consumer behaviour. This initiative is further expanded through the creative communication project “Southware Relive 2026,” designed to showcase the stories, charm, and cultural value of southern Thai textiles to broader audiences, ultimately enhancing market visibility
and long-term competitiveness.
