Phetchaburi (เพชรบุ บุรี รี) Province is promoting local creativity and culture by launching a new creative public space in Khao Yoi (เขาย้อย) District, aiming to boost soft power and add economic value to the community.
The province has opened the “Khao Yoi (เขาย้อย) Creative Plaza” under the “One District, One Creative Space” initiative, turning a local cultural area into a hub for learning, cultural exchange, and community activities. The project builds on Khao Yoi’s unique cultural identity, often known as the “City of Three Cultures,” and transforms it into new opportunities for tourism and local income.
Provincial officials say the creative plaza is designed to bring people together, strengthen families, and encourage community pride, while also supporting Phetchaburi’s direction as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. The space highlights food culture, local wisdom, and everyday traditions as key assets that can attract visitors and generate sustainable income.
The project also aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s policy to develop “living cultural spaces,” where artists, young people, and local communities can actively showcase their cultural expressions. Visitors can enjoy cultural performances, hands-on demonstrations of local craftsmanship, and community products, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Officials believe this creative space model can help drive grassroots economic growth and position Phetchaburi as a creative destination that blends culture, food, and tourism in a meaningful way.
