Policy Statement 2026: Thailand Strengthens Energy Security through Proactive Diplomacy

On April 10, 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Thailand is working to secure new energy sources through diplomatic channels. Discussions have been held with several countries, including Brazil, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Russia.

A visit to Oman on 15–16 April is planned to open an additional channel of communication with Iran, with the aim of ensuring that shipments of oil, gas, and fertilizer bound for Thailand can pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz.

Coordination has also been carried out with Pakistan to seek support on this matter through another channel.
