The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has introduced a new database platform, the SCAM & Human Trafficking Information Exchange and Linked Database (SHIELD), to enhance international cooperation in combating online scams and human trafficking.
Senior RTP officials presented SHIELD to ambassadors and representatives from law enforcement agencies and 18 international organisations, including the FBI and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Participants from Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East joined both in person and via teleconference.
SHIELD is designed to record, analyse, and share information on online scam and human trafficking cases, enabling faster data exchange and more effective cross-border investigations. During the meeting, the RTP also provided updates on trafficking linked to cyber scam operations in Myanmar and Cambodia, noting that victims are often targeted in developed markets such as the United States, Europe, Singapore, and the UAE.
RTP officials said the initiative marks a significant step toward deeper international cooperation, helping to prevent trafficking, disrupt call-centre scam networks, and improve law enforcement outcomes worldwide.
