TAT Partners with PADI to Promote Thailand as a Premium Wellness-Led Diving Destination

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is strengthening Thailand’s position as a world-class scuba diving destination through a new strategic partnership with PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), aligning diving tourism with wellness, responsibility, and long-term value under the global “Healing is the New Luxury” campaign.

The partnership, to be promoted through a global content and media programme, positions scuba diving as a key pillar of Thailand’s quality-led tourism strategy. It combines adventure, personal restoration, and marine conservation to attract long-haul and high-value markets while supporting coastal communities and protecting marine ecosystems.

Thailand has played a major role in the global diving industry for nearly 50 years. Over the past 25 years, more than 2.5 million PADI certifications have been issued in Thailand. In 2025, Thailand ranked as the world’s second-largest country for PADI certifications and remains among the leading producers of certified diving instructors. The country also has nine PADI Eco Centers accredited through the United Nations’ Reef-World Foundation and has supported global conservation initiatives such as the PADI Global Shark & Ray Conservation Course and Global Census.

The collaboration emphasises purpose-driven tourism, positioning diving as both a wellness experience and a direct contribution to marine protection, biodiversity, and community resilience. The partnership will be brought to life through global storytelling and international media activations.

Through this collaboration, TAT aims to reinforce Thailand’s leadership in responsible dive tourism while generating sustained economic value, strengthening environmental stewardship, and promoting meaningful travel aligned with Thailand’s long-term tourism strategy.
