TAT to Host ‘Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ HATYAI’ to Boost Tourism and Revitalise Hat Yai Economy

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is moving to revive and stimulate tourism in Hat Yai(หาดใหญ่) district, Songkhla province, with the organisation of “Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ HATYAI,” scheduled to take place from 17–20 February 2026 along Sanehanusorn Road and Thammanoonvithi Road(ถนนเสน่หานุสรณ์ และถนนธรรมนูญวิถี). The event aims to reaffirm Hat Yai’s readiness to welcome visitors and encourage travel among high-quality domestic and international tourists, with expected local economic circulation exceeding 50 million baht.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool (นางสาวฐาปนีย์ เกียรติไพบูลย์), Governor of TAT, said Hat Yai remains one of Thailand’s key tourism destinations, particularly for visitors from Malaysia and Singapore. TAT has therefore partnered with Hat Yai City Municipality, the Thai–Chinese Association of Songkhla Province, and relevant stakeholders to organise the event under the theme “Glory of HATYAI.” The concept presents Chinese art and culture in a contemporary format to create fresh tourism experiences, attract visitors, and reinforce Hat Yai’s image as an international tourism city

The four-day event will feature a wide range of entertainment activities, including performances by well-known artists, lion and dragon dances, traditional dance and acrobatic performances from Fujian Province of the People’s Republic of China, a city-opening fireworks display, festive Chinese New Year illuminations, as well as more than 100 food and lifestyle stalls.

TAT expects more than 50,000 visitors to attend the event, contributing to increased tourist spending and longer stays, while supporting the tangible recovery of Hat Yai’s tourism economy.

TAT invites the public and tourists to experience a contemporary Chinese New Year celebration at Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @
HATYAI, from 17–20 February 2026 at Sanehanusorn Road and Thammanoonvithi Road (ถนนเสน่หานุสรณ์ และถนนธรรมนูญวิถี), Hat Yai district, Songkhla province. More information is available on the Thailand Festival Facebook page or by calling 1672 Travel Buddy.
