Thai Ambassador in Kathmandu Closely Monitors Nepal Flash Floods; No Thai Fatalities Reported, Embassy Ready to Assist Around the Clock

27 August 2026, Kathmandu, Nepal – Mr. Donnawit Poolsawat, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, spoke to reporters from Thailand’s Government Public Relations Department (PRD), who are in Nepal to attend a regional Asia-Pacific media conference, regarding the flash floods along the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa District, northern Nepal, following the sudden flooding on 26 August 2026.

The Ambassador said the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu has been closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant Nepalese authorities to verify the safety of Thai nationals in the affected areas. According to preliminary information from the Nepal Tourism Board, the status of 384 travellers — 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepalese nationals — is currently being verified. So far, there have been no reports of Thai nationals killed in the incident.

The Ambassador advised Thai nationals in Nepal to closely follow official announcements, avoid affected areas, and comply with safety instructions. He reaffirmed that the Royal Thai Embassy stands ready to coordinate and provide assistance to Thai nationals around the clock.
