Thai Cassava Trade Deals in China Exceed 2 Billion Baht

Thailand is reinforcing its position as a key agricultural exporter following strong outcomes from a cassava trade promotion event in Chongqing, China. The initiative, led by the Department of Foreign Trade, highlights growing international confidence in Thai agricultural products and reflects expanding economic ties between Thailand and western China. The event underscores Thailand’s ability to respond to rising global demand with high-quality, reliable supply chains.

The business matching activity brought together Thai exporters and Chinese importers across multiple sectors, including food production, animal feed, and logistics. A total of 163 trade agreements were recorded, with projected orders over one year exceeding 2 billion baht. Thai companies showcased product samples to demonstrate quality and consistency, generating strong interest from Chinese buyers seeking cassava as an industrial raw material, particularly in the form of starch, chips, and pellets.

Officials noted that rapid economic growth, urbanisation, and infrastructure development in western China are driving increased demand for agricultural inputs. The Thai delegation also visited a major logistics hub in Chongqing to explore transport connections linking the region with ASEAN markets, which could further enhance trade efficiency and reduce costs. The success of the event reflects Thailand’s competitiveness in global agricultural trade and its commitment to strengthening international partnerships while promoting sustainable economic growth.
