The National Science and Technology Development Agency, through its national electronics and computer technology center, in collaboration with the National Research Council of Thailand, has advanced the development and application of Thai Large Language Models to enhance knowledge retrieval systems across organizations. The initiative reflects Thailand’s strategic commitment to developing artificial intelligence technologies that are aligned with the Thai language, local data, and national priorities, supporting practical deployment in the public sector, academia, and industry.
The program focused on building hands-on capabilities for participating organizations to design and implement AI-powered search and question–answering systems based on Thai-language documents. Leveraging
domestically developed LLM platforms, participants gained in-depth experience in data preparation, document processing, retrieval-augmented generation, and advanced search techniques tailored to organizational knowledge management. The initiative underscores Thailand’s readiness to move from research to real-world AI applications that improve efficiency, accessibility, and value creation from national knowledge assets.
By fostering collaboration among government agencies, research institutions, and partners, the program contributed to the creation of functional prototypes developed from real organizational data. This effort demonstrates the growing maturity of Thailand’s AI ecosystem and highlights the country’s potential to develop sovereign AI technologies that strengthen research management, digital governance, and innovation-driven development, positioning Thailand as a capable and competitive player in the global AI landscape
