Thailand is preparing to host the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok from 12–18 October 2026, welcoming finance ministers and central bank governors from 191 countries for one of the world’s most important economic gatherings. The event marks Thailand’s return as host after 35 years and signals its renewed role on the global financial stage.
At the launch press conference, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance highlighted the theme “Thailand’s New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience”, reflecting Thailand’s vision of inclusive, people-centred growth and its ability to navigate global uncertainty. The meetings will showcase Thailand as a constructive mediator in a polarised world, grounded in strong domestic foundations and guided by the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
The Bank of Thailand will promote safe and inclusive digital finance, focusing on combating digital fraud, strengthening cybersecurity, and improving financial wellbeing. Bangkok has also affirmed its readiness, highlighting infrastructure, safety, public health, and the city’s renowned hospitality.
Beyond short-term economic benefits from tourism and services, the meetings offer a long-term opportunity to attract investment, showcase innovation, and position Thailand as a regional financial hub. Overall, hosting the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings is seen as a national effort that reinforces Thailand’s resilience, credibility, and leadership in the global economy.
