Thailand’s Synchrotron Light Research Institute is inspiring the next generation of scientists by turning advanced science into an exciting detective-style learning experience. The institute recently welcomed high school students from Chitralada (จิตรลดา) School to a hands-on science camp that blends real research tools with creative problem-solving.
During the camp, students stepped into the role of young investigators, working together to solve a mysterious case involving unknown blood traces in a simulated laboratory. Using synchrotron light, one of Thailand’s most advanced research technologies, the students learned how scientists analyze biological samples and identify hidden clues, much like real forensic experts.
Beyond the mystery challenge, the program introduced students to how synchrotron light works and how it supports research in medicine, biology, materials science, and future industries. Scientists guided the students through interactive experiment stations, helping them understand complex ideas in a fun and accessible way.
By opening its laboratories to young learners, the Synchrotron Light Research Institute is strengthening science education, building curiosity, and supporting Thailand’s long-term goal of developing skilled talent in science, technology, and innovation.
