Thailand–Hungary Strengthen Higher Education and Workforce Development Cooperation under Stipendium Hungaricum

Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have formalised a new framework of cooperation under the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme for the 2026–2028 period, with the participation of the foreign affairs authorities of both countries. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing higher education collaboration, developing human capital, and strengthening long-term bilateral relations between Thailand and Hungary.

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme serves as a key mechanism for enhancing academic cooperation by providing Thai students with opportunities to pursue higher education at Hungarian universities. Beyond scholarship support, the renewed cooperation aims to expand academic engagement across multiple dimensions, including institutional partnerships between universities,
student and staff exchange programmes, and joint research initiatives in areas of mutual strength and interest.

To date, more than 220 Thai students have benefited from the programme across undergraduate, integrated bachelor’s–master’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.Under the new framework, both sides have agreed to prioritise human resource development in STEM fields, medical and health sciences, and agriculture—strategic areas that align with national development priorities of both countries. The enhanced cooperation underscores Thailand’s growing role in international academic networks and its commitment to building a highly skilled workforce to support sustainable development in the years ahead.
