Thailand–Kazakhstan Trade Cooperation Strengthened to Enhance Regional Economic Connectivity

The Ministry of Commerce of Thailand has held discussions with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Thailand to advance bilateral trade and economic cooperation, aiming  to strengthen economic linkages at the regional and intercontinental levels. The engagement  reflects Thailand’s strategy to expand into new markets while reinforcing its role in global supply chains.

Kazakhstan is viewed as a high-potential emerging market in Central Asia. Despite being a landlocked country, it possesses strong logistics connectivity linking Central Asia to Europe, enabling it to serve as a strategic gateway for Thai goods and services to a market of over 80 million people. At the same time, Thailand offers significant potential as a trade gateway for Kazakhstan into ASEAN. This complementary relationship highlights the opportunity for both  countries to develop a mutually beneficial economic partnership.

Both sides emphasized cooperation across supply chains, particularly in agriculture and food  products, SME development, and business capacity building. Thailand’s trade-related agencies are well-positioned to support such cooperation through expertise in business development. In addition, Kazakhstan’s abundant natural resources, including minerals and energy, can serve as key inputs for Thailand’s targeted industries and long-term industrial development.

The discussions also underscored the importance of institutional mechanisms, with plans to  establish a joint trade committee to drive tangible outcomes under existing economic cooperation frameworks. Participation in international trade exhibitions hosted in Thailand is expected to further enhance private-sector engagement, fost ring sustainable and long-term economic collaboration between the two countries.
